The fastest board in the Paddle North fleet. At 12'6'' long, the Norsemen is our longest bamboo board and also the most narrow. Paddlers will experience greater speed at the sacrifice of stabilization. This board goes fast and is made for paddlers who want to race or paddle very long distances on big bodies of water.
Material: EPS core, Real bamboo with fiberglass finish for extra durability. By using real bamboo, we are able to use less fiberglass which reduces the carry weight significantly compared to other board of similar dimensions.
Increase Strokes Per Side (SPS):
Tracking straight and increasing strokes per side (SPS) is a key performance factor for anyone paddling Lakes and Rivers. Where most boards average 1-4 SPS, the Norsemen with it's water displacement hull naturally tracks very straight. It can achieve 15-25 SPS. This allows paddlers to build up more speed and achieve a much more ryhthmic paddling experience.
The Bamboo Advantage:
Bamboo has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any natural fiber. This allows for an extremely durable, yet lightweight board construction. Paddle North bamboo board's, made with real bamboo, weigh at least 15% less than boards made only from fiberglass, 25%+ less than wood strip boards and 50%+ less than plastic boards of comparable size. This makes it easy to transport the board on and off vehicles, as well as down to the water.
Dimensions: 12'6'' x 29'' x 5''
Paddle sold separately.
Love my Norsemen
I upgraded to the Norsemen from a 10'6" Loon and it's become the only board I use. It's fast, efficient, and plenty stable even in the wind. SPS is very good, and the light weight makes it easy to transport and load. Of all of my boards this one is by a wide margin my favorite.
Paddle North Norsemen Paddleboard
I've wanted the Norsemen for some time, and realized this year that Paddle North no longer makes or sells this board. Isaac here in Grand Rapids let me know that there was a Norsemen leftover after the Woodland Mall Store closed-in preparation to open a new store on Wealthy St-and I bought it! Isaac is the best! Thank you . I broke my wrist May 2 and haven't paddle boarded at all this year, and I'm finally going to get to take this superb board out on Reed's Lake! Yeehaaa! There's a new store opening this fall! Paddle North, is located at our new shop that is under construction at 1048 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids, MI. Ask for Isaac Mogck!
This Board Rocks
I bought my board (aka Thor) late last summer and used it until ice up. It’s a super stable yet incredibly fast board. The weight and maneuverability makes it a great on the water but also easy to throw on top of the car. It’s also just pretty to look at. The removable fin is nice for storage. I caved on a composite 3 piece paddle and it’s great to store when going on longer road trips. This is not the board or company I had planned to buy from. I am so happy I did. Dan and his team were great to work with. I’m laughing cuz as I look down I’m wearing a paddle north t-shirt. How ironic.
This board is fast! Took it out on a fairly windy day in Green Bay, WI on the Fox River, going with the wind turned this board into a speed demon, and coming back against the wind was still easy do to the pointed front, it slices through waves and chop with ease! Also is very stable when the large boat wakes come through. I’m overall super impressed with this board and it perfect for the open waters of the Great Lakes and the Green Bay. Also I received excellent customer service when I place my order for the board and made some order changes. The staff is very helpful and the order was shipped quickly! I’m happy to have stumbled upon this company for a touring style SUP!
I wouldn’t consider this board far less stable than typical shapes but a whole lot more fun! Way more efficient and tracks nicely. I was always frustrated paddling ****** birds that are only 2-5 strokes per side. Huge improvement! Perfect for MN water! Thanks Peter from Paddle North for hooking me up!
