Clear water and paddle boards

Edith Lake is somewhat of a local secret around Jasper, National Park. Views of Edith Cavell Mountain were incredible on this lake. The water is considerably warmer than any other lake in the area, and the clarity is unreal. We parked along with maybe 6 other cars at a public dock and felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. We paddled to a remote beach and set up our towels before we started to explore. It may go down as one of our favorite lakes we paddled on this summer.

Paddle Boards in Alberta

We both came within a few feet of a (GORGEOUS) loon who was just as curious about us as we were of it. She would dive, swim, and resurface just a short distance away from our boards. When she resurfaced, she would call to her friends with the most beautiful song! We played hide and seek with her for a while before heading back towards shore and going for a dip. The bottom of the lake was sandy near the beach and thick with muck the deeper it got. This was easily the clearest water we’ve seen on this trip so far (and one of our favorites)! It was gorgeous!
